    Does Norma Jean Sing?

Hey guys! I recently bought Norma Jean's "O' God, The Aftermath" album. I was just kinda curious if they actually sang, or if they were all-out screamo. Thanks guys!

I bought that CD because everyone said it was such a great CD.  I think I've listened to it twice...I guess I just don't get it because I thought it sucked.  I don't think I've ever heard them do anything but scream.  I don't mind screaming as long as I can half way understand it.

They DO suck. The first two albums were really bad, but I haven't heard the one mentioned above. Basically, they do a lot of disharmonic noise and played out breakdown riffs.

Maybe we're just getting too old for this "new stuff".

Nah Kevin, we're not too old.......... we just have good taste.  And screamo/emo/ biploar crap metal just sucks, plain and simple.  It's different, which is likely why they get signed, and it manages to sell records, much to my disbelief.  Huh?

Embarrassed  Some emo is a guilty pleasure of mine... As I Lay Dying, Still Remains, Haste The Day, The Showdown.

I just don't think Norma Jean is all they're pumped up to be.

Is that emo, though? As I lay dying??

I prefer the more melodic, heavy stuff. If it has too much i.e. more than say, 25%, blastbeat, noise, etc then it gets the thumbs down.

And I like guitar solos. Whatever happened to guitar solos?

Not in that album for as far as I know. I do know they have one song where they sang called "Songs Sound Much Sadder" from the album "Redeemer."

I agree, KW.  I'm a recent convert to As I Lay Dying, The Showdown, Underoath, and Demon Hunter.  I love the metalcore where you have one dude screaming and one singing...a balance and counter-balance of sorts. Cool

Carry on, wayward son! Lay your weary head to rest--don't you cry no more!!
